Diagnosis and treatment of diseases of your peripheral arteries and veins
Vascular diseases affect the arteries and veins in your body, which conduct oxygen to every living cell. Arteries carry oxygen-rich blood away from your heart. Veins carry oxygen-poor blood back to your heart.
Age affects arteries, which causes them to thicken and get narrower. When this occurs in the blood vessels leading to the heart, it can lead to coronary heart disease and can cause a heart attack . If this happens in the arteries leading to the brain, it can cause strokes. Arteries can also become narrow in legs which can cause Peripheral Arterial Disease, or PAD. If untreated, PAD can cause sores, pain with walking or even amputation.
Rely On
Arterial diseases can go unnoticed, and if not treated, they can lead to loss of limb, stroke and even death. Symptoms of arterial disease include pain while walking, chest and back pain, headaches, blurred vision and speech impairment. In many cases, vascular conditions are highly treatable, and often times, without surgery, if they are diagnosed early enough. It is important to seek out medical care at the earliest to prevent escalation of these diseases.
At Heart, Vascular & Vein of Tampa Bay, we offer comprehensive consultation and appropriate testing and treatment for many common Vascular conditions.
COMMON VASCULAR CONDITIONS
A thoracic aortic aneurysm is considered serious. The bulge in your thoracic aorta can become weak, and the force of normal blood pressure can cause it to rupture. This can lead to severe pain and massive internal bleeding, or hemorrhage.
